Christmas food traditions we enjoy each festive season
-
Pigs in blankets
One of the best Christmas food traditions we love to see on our plate is pigs in blankets. We can’t deny it is one of our favourite foods to eat over the festive season. These tasty treats are a must have on your plate for Christmas Dinner. Just the thought of succulent sausages wrapped in crispy bacon is making our mouths water. We are sure you’re craving them now.
-
Christmas pudding
One of our favourite things about Christmas is indulging in all the sweet treats. It wouldn’t be the festive season without a Christmas pudding. It is one of the best loved desserts to eat after Christmas dinner. We can almost taste it now.
Who do you know that makes the best Christmas pudding?
-
Mince pies
Next up on our list of the best Christmas food traditions is the classic mince pie. You know Christmas is just around the corner when mince pies start appearing. During the festive period in 2019 Aldi sold 55 million mince pies. That’s a lot of mince pies, but who can blame us when they taste so delicious. How do you eat your mince pie, hot or cold? Maybe you like a dollop of cream or custard with yours.
-
Hot chocolates
Whilst this next one isn’t a food; it is commonly consumed over the festive period. Mainly because it is a hot beverage that warms us up during those cold winter nights. There’s nothing quite like a tasty hot chocolate topped with cream and sprinkles. Many of us enjoy sipping these at Christmas markets and displays. As Christmas approaches many café outlets launch their Christmas flavoured hot chocolates including:
- Salted Caramel
- Black Forest Gateaux
- Gingerbread.
What’s your favourite Christmas flavour hot chocolate?
-
Christmas cake
If you’re still looking for ideas for the best Christmas food traditions, we still have more suggestions to come. What’s Christmas without a slice of Christmas cake and a cup of tea? It’s the perfect way to unwind after the stress of Christmas. Whilst there are many Christmas cakes to buy from shops, there’s nothing quite like homemade. Do you make a good Christmas cake?
-
Christmas cookies
We weren’t wrong about all the sweet treats we indulge in at Christmas time. Here’s another one – Christmas cookies. The smell of those freshly baked cookies coming out the oven is one of the best smells.

- Turkey curry
- Ham and turkey pie
- Turkey soup
- Pasta bake
- Turkey casserole.
What’s your favourite turkey dish?

We have saved the best Christmas food traditions until last. Yes, we are talking about the almighty Christmas dinner. It’s the meal we wait all year for, and personally we think it’s the best meal of the year. We all know what’s included on a Christmas dinner so there’s no need to run through what’s on the plate. So much preparation goes into making the perfect Christmas dinner which is probably why we love it so much. Is it Christmas day yet?
Just the thought of a traditional Christmas dinner is making our stomachs grumble. We know there’s so many things to choose from but what’s your favourite part of a Christmas dinner?
