Easy Christmas crafts for kids: From my family to yours

1. Making Christmas cards

One of the easiest craft activities children can get involved with is making Christmas cards. With some card and art supplies, children can create any design they want. Children love getting messy so use plenty of pens, paint and glitter to create the perfect card.

Encourage them to write their own Christmas message inside. This will improve their reading and writing skills.

Make multiple cards of all different sizes and gift them to family, friends and neighbours. They will love receiving something your little ones have made for them.

2. Make a gingerbread house

Once you’ve made your slime pour it all into a jar and place the lid on top. Transform the jar into a reindeer by adding, googly eyes, antlers and a red pom pom for the nose.

10. Decorate the Christmas tree

Grab some big sheets of paper and plenty of paint and have fun creating some pictures together. You could paint a Christmas tree, Santa delivering toys or your family in their Christmas jumpers. The possibilities are endless, so paint lots of pictures.

Hang those pictures on the wall or on the fridge for everyone to see.

Head to a craft store for some art supplies to use for decorating. Let your little ones decide how they want to design them. Perhaps they’ll make a hat so they can look like Santa or a colourful hat with accessories on it.

15. Festive toilet roll tubes

Teach your children about the importance of recycling with this next craft idea. Make use of something we all have in the house – toilet roll tubes.

Instead of throwing away the empty toilet roll tubes, get creative with them. With some craft supplies, they can transform those toilet roll tubes into festive characters. You could make a family of elves or Santa’s reindeer.

These are nifty ideas you can display around the house for a festive feel.

16. Make your own reindeer food

If your children like to get crafty with food, we have the perfect activity for them. It will require some adult supervision. It could get quite messy so create some space away from the furniture and carpets.

• Two handfuls of oats or seeds
• One handful of crunchy rice cereal or granola
• Half a handful of dried fruit (reindeers love dried cranberries or dried bananas)
• One handful of grated carrot (remember, reindeer need to see in the dark all night!)
• Sprinkle of sugar
• Sprinkle of cinnamon.

Remember to leave your reindeer food somewhere the reindeer can easily find it.

17. Reindeer handprints

We’re down to our final idea for easy Christmas crafts for kids. This is a simple but effective one that is sure to make some mess.

Grab some brown card and place your child’s hand down on the card. Draw around your child’s hand and cut out the template. Do this multiple times until you have used up all the card. Cut out your templates and begin decorating them.

Turn your hand-print templates into a team of reindeer. Jazz up your reindeer with glitter, bows, googly eyes, and pom poms. Why not hang your decorations on your tree or gift them to others to hang from theirs?
