12 Christmas party ideas for adults and kids

1. Candy cane hunt

Hide candy canes and let the kids look for them. Give them some clues as to where the candy canes are. After they have found all the candy canes, they can have fun eating them. All that sugar will make them hyper!

2. Christmas movie trivia

Adults love Christmas too and there are plenty of Christmas party activities for adults to enjoy. A Christmas movie quiz is a good way to test everyone’s knowledge on Christmas films. Split your guests into teams and the winners receive a selection box each. Do your guests know why the Grinch hated Christmas?

3. Homemade party hats

A fun and creative Christmas party activity for kids is to get them to create their own party hats. You could create different characters such as a reindeer, snowman or Santa. They are simple to make yet look effective. Your party guests will love wearing them.

4. Costume contest

It’s hard to find Christmas party activities for kids and adults but we’ve got the perfect one for you. Why not ask your guests to attend your party in fancy dress. It doesn’t necessarily have to be Christmas themed but perhaps characters from books or TV shows. People love the idea of getting dressed up and seeing others in their costumes.

Top tip: Turn it into a game! People love a competition, and it gives them an incentive to dress to impress. Ask your guests to vote for their favourite costume with the winner receiving an early Christmas present.

5. Stocking guessing game

Fill up stockings with odd objects and give them to your guests and have them guess the contents. They can’t look inside the stocking, but they can feel it. The person with the most correct guesses gets to keep their stocking. To make the game extra fun put random items in to make it harder for them to guess.

6. Pin the red nose on Rudolph 

At Santa Academy, we like creating activities that kids can enjoy, and we believe this is a fun one. Pin the red nose on Rudolph is a Christmas take on pin the tail on the donkey. Kids will love it. It’s simple enough to create your own.

7. The Santa Hat Game

Still searching for Christmas party activities to keep kids and adults entertained? We’ve got you covered. At the beginning of the party, give each person a Santa hat and a piece of paper. Only one person is “it” and whenever they take their hat off, everyone else must follow suit. The last person with their hat on loses. Keep the process going until you’ve eliminated your guests one by one. The last one left wins the game.

8. Indoor snowball fight

If you can’t have a snowball fight outside, there’s nothing stopping you from having one inside. Split up into teams and aid each team with marshmallows as their snowballs and let the snowball fight commence. Once the snowball fight is over, you could put the marshmallows on top of a delicious hot chocolate.

9. Christmas karaoke

No party would be complete without music. Instead of playing Christmas music, encourage your guests to sing by hosting your own Christmas karaoke. Even if we do hear the same songs re-played every December, we can’t help but sing-along to them all.

Play a game – You could make the activity more fun by turning it into a competition and scoring each other. Pretend it’s your very own X-Factor, with the winner receiving a prize.

10. Gift wrap relay 

We have many Christmas party activities for you to enjoy but we think the whole family will love this one. Split the guests into teams, then have a race to wrap up a present. The first round should be a present that’s easy to wrap then each round should get harder. The aim of the game is whichever team wraps the present the quickest without ripping the paper are the winners.

11. Santa limbo

Ask your guests to put a Santa belly under their shirt using a pillow. Place a limbo stick at a start height. One by one get your guests to try limbo with their Santa bellies until everyone has had a turn. Keep lowering the stick until you have an overall winner.

12. Blindfold Christmas Drawing

It’s time to get creative and make some mess. To get started you’ll need some paper plates and felt tips. Players are blindfolded and hold their paper plates on top of their head. We know what you’re thinking, this already sounds like a recipe for disaster. One person gives drawing instructions whilst the blindfolded players try to draw the Christmas scene being described to them. You’ll all be chuckling at how some of the pictures turn out, chances are they won’t look remotely Christmassy. At least you tried!
