PE ideas for homeschool: PE with Flea Faster

1. Warm-up

Before starting any exercise, Flea Faster always recommends doing a warm-up. Create space in your living room or garden to do some warm-up exercises. You should start with some stretches. Some neck, shoulder, arms, and leg stretches are a good way to get started before a workout. Spend five minutes warming up then you’re good to start your workout.

2. Star jumps

A great PE idea for homeschool is getting the little ones to do some star jumps. It’s a great way for them to exercise their legs and arms at the same time. They’ll love jumping around making the shape of a star. See who can make the biggest star.

3. Jogging on the spot

Flea Faster is great at running, but can you keep up with him? Get your little ones jogging on the spot. Start off slow then build up and see how fast they can jog.

4. Hopscotch

This is a fun PE idea for homeschool you can enjoy on the pavement outside your house. Simply grab some chalk and create your own hopscotch on the ground from one to 10. Once you’ve created your hopscotch, let the fun begin! You could grab a small item such as a bean bag and throw it onto the hopscotch. Skip to wherever it lands, pick it up and skip back to the start. Your little ones will have hours of fun with this simple but effective idea.

5. Practice gymnastics

If leisure centers and sport classes aren’t running, that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun exercising at home. Get your little ones practicing their gymnastics in the back garden. They can practice their summersaults, cartwheels, and tumbles. They’ll have so much fun and it’s a great way to keep them fit and active.

6. Create a dance routine

Little ones love dancing to music don’t they? Why not get your little ones to practice some dance moves? They could put together their own dance routine and perform it to you. Be sure to film it so you can share the video with family and friends.

7. Play frisbee

This is a great PE idea for homeschool for all the family to enjoy. If you have a big garden or an open playing field nearby, it’s a perfect activity. Your children will enjoy spending time with the family and having fun. This activity will keep them active with running, throwing, and catching. Get the dog involved, they love playing fetch.

8. Circuit training

 You could set up circuit training in your garden or indoors if you don’t have a garden. Set up different activities for children to work on. You could include:

• Cones to run in and out of
• Hula hoop
• Skipping rope
• A stepper.

Children spend two minutes at each station before moving on to the next one. This is a great work-out for adults too that will tire you out in no time.

9. Exercise with YouTube

Kids love watching videos on YouTube. So why not find some exercise videos on there for them to follow? Find their favorite YouTuber and see if they have any fitness videos your little ones can join in with. There are thousands of exercise videos you could all take part in together as a family. You could always create your own exercise video and upload it to YouTube or share it on social media.

10. Football training

This is Flea Faster’s favorite PE idea for home-school as he loves playing football. Set up some football training in your garden or on a nearby playing field. Set up cones to help your little ones with their dribbling. Set up goals to help your children practice scoring goals. You could also buy a rebounder. It allows kids to practice controlling the ball and get more touches. Make the training more competitive and see who is the best at keepy uppy’s.

11. Balloon tennis

This is great creative twist on classic tennis. It’s ideal if you don’t have any outdoor space to play real tennis. Or you don’t want the kids to break anything indoors with a tennis ball. This game will keep them occupied for a while. It’s a great way to exercise whilst having fun. They’ll keep fit by moving around hitting the balloon with their racket. Who’s the best balloon tennis player in your family?

12. Back garden sports day

We’re onto our final PE idea for homeschool. But we’ve saved the best until last. Flea Faster recommends turning your back garden into your own sports day event. Get the kids to compete in the egg and spoon race, sack race and hurdles. It’ll feel just like the real thing. Get some medals you can present to the kids for their efforts. Kids and adults have a fun afternoon together in the sun. After all that exercising cool down with an ice cream. Which event will you win at?
