6 tried and tested Christmas craft activities

1. Santa’s beard advent calendar

If you’re searching for Christmas craft activities, you can’t go wrong with a Santa’s beard advent calendar.

Get your little one to make Santa’s face from craft paper. Or if you’d prefer, download a template – there are plenty out there! Once your child has their own Santa Claus, write each day leading up to Christmas on his beard. And make sure his beard is long enough for all 25 days!

In the run up to Christmas, your little one can add a cotton ball to Santa’s beard. Watch Santa Claus come to life with each passing day

2. Pinecone Christmas trees

Next on our list of tried and tested Christmas craft activities – make your own pinecone Christmas trees.

This is a great way for your little one to get creative. And you can turn it into an outdoor activity too! Go for a festive walk and see how many pinecones you can find. But don’t forget to wrap up warm!

If you don’t want to collect your own, visit a craft store or order some online.

Now you have your pinecones, the rest is up to you! You and your child can decorate them however you like. If you want your Christmas trees to look traditional, paint them green and decorate them with pompoms, sequins and glitter. Or if you want to try something new, experiment with different colors and be creative with different decorations.

And this is one of our favorite Christmas craft activities because you can use your pinecone trees as Christmas decorations. Place them around your home, turn them into a festive centerpiece, or even use them to decorate your tree.

3. Grinch slime

Still looking for Christmas craft activities? Why not try making your own Grinch-inspired slime?

This is the perfect Christmas craft activity for kids that love to get messy. Make the slime with green glitter and fill it with red hearts. You’ll have your very own Grinch!

If your child is too young to make the slime, do it for them and get ready to have some fun. Or if your child is old enough to join in, create the slime together.

And if you store it correctly, your Grinch-inspired slime will last for several weeks. Store the slime in either a plastic or glass container, and remember to keep it clean. Why not make your slime at the beginning of the festive period? Then you and your little one can have Christmassy fun up until the big day!

4. Popsicle stick snowflake decorations

Christmas craft activities are a great way to engage your little one’s creative side. But they’re also your chance to make your very own Christmas decorations!

If you want your decorations to have a personal touch this festive season, try making popsicle stick snowflake decorations. They’re super easy to make – but so effective!

Like with many Christmas craft activities, we suggest that adults do the tricky parts, like handling the glue. But once you’ve made the popsicle snowflake decorations, your little one can have some fun.

You can decorate the snowflakes however you like. Experiment with paint, glitter, sequins, pompoms and more! When you’re done, each decoration will be completely unique – just like a real snowflake.

Your child will love decorating the tree with handmade decorations. And you can reuse them year after year, so you can always remember the Christmas fun you had together!

5. Make your own Christmas cards

The whole family can enjoy our next Christmas craft activity – make your own Christmas cards!

Encourage your little one to choose their own decorations. Why not visit your favourite craft store and see what goodies they can find?

And the best part of this Christmas craft activity? There are no limits! You can keep the fun going by making as many Christmas cards as you like. Have your child make a Christmas card for all your family, friends and colleagues. They’ll love the personal gesture, and it gives your child a chance to show off their creative side!

6. Paper plate Christmas masks

Last, but certainly not least, on our list of Christmas craft activities are paper plate Christmas masks. This super simple Christmas craft activity will provide hours of festive fun.

You and your child will have the chance to star as your favorite Christmassy characters. Here at Santa Academy, our favorite festive characters are:

• Santa Claus
• Mrs Claus
• Rudolph
• A snowman
• An elf.

Once you’ve made your paper plate Christmas masks, keep the fun going with a silly photoshoot or festive play. You can use the photos in your Christmas cards, or send them to family and friends. They’ll love receiving such a personal gift – and it’s one less thing for you to shop for!

Don’t forget to keep copies of the photos for yourself, so you’ll have a reminder of your festive fun!
