Christmas classroom decorations to bring the magic of Christmas to school

1. Paper snowflakes

For our first Christmas classroom decorations idea, we suggest helping kids make their own paper snowflakes. All you need for this activity is white paper and scissors. Show the kids how to make their snowflakes or use a video from YouTube as a demonstration. Then help them as they make their own. Once they have all been made, attach string to them so they can be hung from the ceiling. This will turn the classroom into a winter wonderland. A light breeze from an open window will also gently spin them, making them even more fun.

2. Christmas tree

For this Christmas classroom decorations idea, use green card/paper and cut the sheets into shapes. Then stick them onto the classroom door. Use them to create the shape of a Christmas tree’s branches. Then you can glue on some ribbon and coloured pom poms for decorations. Don’t forget to stick a glittery star on top!

3. Elf display

For this Christmas classroom decorations idea, print off a photo of each class member. Then stick their face over the body of an elf. You can then stick all of the elves onto a display board. This is a fun display idea that kids will enjoy seeing in their classrooms.

4. Reindeer printables

For our next Christmas classroom decorations idea, you will need a reindeer head printable. There will be plenty of reindeer head outlines online that you can print out. Then have the class paint, colour, and decorate their own reindeer. Make sure they give them a cool name too! Then, all the reindeer can be displayed on the wall so everyone can enjoy each other’s creations.

5. Snow globes

Want to make a fun paper snow globe? You can with this Christmas classroom decorations idea. Cut sheets of plastic into circles and then have the kids fingerpaint the plastic with white paint. This is to imitate falling snow. Once dry, stick on a base with card, with a name and date. Finally, print out a photo of each of the kids so they can put themselves in the snow globes. This is a fun craft idea that many parents will surely love to see their little ones come home with. Don’t forget to add some string so they can hang it on their Christmas trees.

6. Writing activity

Have each child write out a small paragraph that can be displayed on the classroom wall. It is up to you what the children should write about. We suggest that they write about things they are grateful for. Or why they enjoy Christmas. They could even write a festive short story. 7. Make a gingerbread house

For this Christmas classroom decorations idea, it could go two ways. If you want to make a gingerbread house for the wall, here’s what you’ll need:

• Parcel paper
• Paper plates
• Pens/paints
• White chalk
• Coloured paper roll
• Cotton wool
• Staples/stapler
• Scissors.

This can be a really fun arts and crafts activity for the kids to enjoy. Have the class paint lollipop designs on paper plates. As well as some candy canes and red and white window frames. Whilst they’re busy painting plates, you can staple the parcel paper onto the display board. This will make up the gingerbread walls. Decide where doors and windows will go to make the decorating part easier.

Add coloured paper to make a door and windows. Then, when the kids’ paper plates are dry, stick them to the gingerbread house. Use a strip of white paper for a lolly stick. Use the white chalk on the parcel paper to draw out shingles for the roofing. As well as nice patterns for the rest of the house. Finally, add cotton balls to the top and bottom of the display board to imitate freshly fallen snow. Don’t forget to add a door number! Kids will love this Christmas classroom decorations idea and will enjoy making such a fun and colourful display.

Interactive gingerbread house

If you want to make a more interactive gingerbread house, you could opt for a classroom playhouse. These can be especially fun for younger kids during breaktime or when they have finished their work.
